Sorry for my Inconsistency

I really want my blog to be directed towards personal finance, but I’m not doing a whole lot of weighty stuff because it’s a little hard to focus when my work patterns have disappeared and taken massive chunks of my income with them. I’m a little freaked out that we’re a year into the financial meltdown, with the news spouting crap about the recession being over and the Dow flirting with 5 figures again – and for the first time ever in my life, I will probably have to hit my savings to meet my expenses this month. It’s also painfully disheartening that over 3/4 of new business inquiries are men looking for some minor prostitution activities – it makes me wonder what I’m really selling here, e.g. a jumped-up lapdance?

So if you’re wondering why most of my posts are about coupon games and donating the stuff I accumulate, just know it’s a $10-a-week hobby that gets me out of the house, connects me with people who think I’m good for something other than fantasy material (I’m old and chubby, wtf!), and distracts me – perhaps to my detriment – from dwelling on the insults and uncertainty. Besides, everyone else is writing about The Latte Factor, credit card grievances, and debt-busting – it’s not like I’ve got anything new to add. Hence my sporadic posting…sorry 😦

  1. Sorry to hear that business is slow. I imagine it would be so frustrating dealing with others’ expectations of the services you provide (or don’t for that matter)! I hope appropriate referrals pick up for you soon. It’s great that you can channel that frustration into such a kind and generous hobby. Hang in there!

  2. I love reading about your craigslist connections, its so nice to know that someone is doing something so big with so little. Your posts are a nice treat to read.

  3. Your coupon games and charity posts are my favorite. I love reading about what you scored at the drugstore and who you are helping, how and why. Thank you for posting. Your blogs is one of my favorites and I hope you keep posting. I dont even care about what.

  4. Don’t apologize for your content – after all, it IS your blog. =)

And people like reading what you write, no matter WHAT it is.

  5. I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to be a trained professional and to be continually mistaken for a prostitute. One of the reasons that I wish prostitution was legal is that massage could be appreciate for the true art that is is, without the distraction of all those “massages” in the personals section of the newspaper.

I’ll keep your job situation in my prayers and hope that things get better for you soon.

  6. On the subject of posting content: I totally empathize. Keeps feeling like I have absolutely no progress to post. At least you’re doing some really cool stuff to deal with the scary loss of income.

  7. I agree with everybody before me! You are an interesting and educational writer no matter what the topic. Besides, you inspire many of us to do more with less.

  8. Agree with everyone above. Please don’t apologize for something so inspirational to so many people. Your readers keep coming back for a reason, don’t we? 🙂 Hang in there!

  9. There’s nothing new under the sun, so I wouldn’t sweat that bit. The joy of this blog is your hilarious and awesome sauce voice, regardless of the content. That’s why I loves it so!

  10. We all love you 🙂 You could write about poop and we’d read it.

  11. Well hon, I recently learned that Mr M’s friend, who isn’t much in the way to look at, is a craislist pro… She charges $300 a go. I can’t imagine a guy would pay that much for her, but apparently there is a market. So I guess don’t be surprised….

I really hope business picks up soon, if you lived here I would definitely be adding to your income. My neck and back are killing me!
